After five seasons of losses, they moved to Utah in 1979. In 1984 when the team acquired Stockton and Malone the next year, the Jazz began to establish themselves as a team deserving of respect. The two had a great rapport with each other, and Stockton regularly passed the ball to Malone who was commonly in a good scoring position.
In 1996-97 the team finally reached the finals, sent by one shot by Stockton at the buzzer in game six of the conference championship. This would be one of the most memorable moments in franchise history. They made it to the finals again the next year, again involved in a shot for the record books. Jordan sunk a jump shot in the last seconds of the game, and the Bulls won.
