Seattle Supersonics Tickets

The Seattle Supersonics, founded in 1967, play in the Northwest Division of the Western Conference in the NBA. The team was Seattle's first pro-sports franchise. With one NBA Championship under their belt from 1979, three conference and six division titles over the years, the team saw the best record of the NBA in 1994.

That year the team suffered a first round loss in the playoffs, becoming the first number one seed to lose during the playoffs to a number eight seed. The franchise moved from the Tacoma Dome to the Key Arena in 1995. This year perhaps marked the strongest roster the team had seen, Shawn Kemp and Gary Payton leading. They continued the next two years to dominate the Western Conference, winning 57 games in 1996-97 and in 1997-98 winning 61, taking their second and third Pacific Division titles in a row.

The Sonics saw an 11-year winning season streak come to an end in the 2002-03 season, when Payton was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks. The next season led to the team's sixth and final division title to date, with 52 wins.

There is some speculation that with the 2006 sale of the Supersonics' franchise along with the Seattle Storm to an Oklahoma City group the team may be moved to Oklahoma City when the Hornets return to Louisiana. Fans started "Save Our Sonics and Storm" to support the teams and to keep them in Seattle. With new legislation passed, it is unlikely that the team can stay in the city.
