The Minnesota Timberwolves were founded in 1989 and play in the Northwest Division of the NBA's Western Conference. They have yet to win a championship or conference title, but hold one division title from 2004.

Superstar Kevin Garnett plays with the Timberwolves, and is an eight-time NBA All-Star. He has been responsible for every effort that the team made to become playoff contenders. The highlight of those years came after the Wolves were the team everyone wanted to beat in the 2003-04 season. They finished as top seed and making it to the finals and falling to the Lakers.

Kevin Garnett was named Most Valuable Player after coming in close years previous. The next year they would miss the playoffs for the first time in eight years. They have yet to return since the 2003 season. The team has an emerging star lineup in Rickey Davis, Mike James and Garnett going into the 2007 season. Comparisons have been drawn between the players and the trio that led the Wolves to the finals in the 2004 season. The addition of Craig Smith and Randy Foye, two promising rookie players, may take the Wolves back to the finals.
